In Studio Interview: Doug Alan Wilcox - Web Site

Today guest was Doug Alan Wilcox, visiting us from Maryland. His debut CD, So It Goes... released earlier this year, demonstrates his ability as a songwriter, vocalist, and player of many instruments. The first word that comes to mind with Doug is versatile. He is equally comfortable, and adept, at writing and performing a country song, a jazz ballad, or a pop song. With early influences ranging from James Taylor to Al Jarreau to Betty Carter, Doug's approach is to embrace the diversity of these styles. Songwriting generally begins with an instrumental progression and as lyrics are woven into the melody, the two begin to work together. Sometimes "something falls out of the sky" and a song will just naturally come forth. In studio, Doug played with enthusiasm and focus. His versatile guitar work was augmented by flowing harmonica. Doug has a strong, resonant voice with a warm and easy delivery; the songs are layered with a full sound that rolls out and embraces you, words and music finding their willing mark. Whether writing about happy times or dark moments, Doug's songs reflect the journey his life has followed. On a rare cool summer morning, Doug gave us an upbeat and joyful start to our day here in MetroWorcester.
