In Studio Interview: Lorna Hunt - Web Site

Today's guest was Lorna Hunt visiting us from Santa Barbara, California. Her debut recording All In One Day, released in December 1998, is a landscape of reflective words, dreamy vocals, and haunting melodies. Vignettes of contemporary life are expressed gracefully in lyrics that read as poetry, in words that are memorable in their simplicity and elegance. Lorna's voice has a gentle intensity, rising to emphasize a key phrase then lilting expressively on a bridge. Recorded in an old theater without electronic effects, this album has an ethereal quality that is compelling. In our conversation, we learned that Lorna enjoys reading a wide range of prose and poetry. As she "noodles" on her guitar, phrases work into the melody building to verses. In studio, Lorna performed with focus, ease, and warmth, her performance true to the recording. The two covers chosen for CD, "Piece Of My Heart" and "Whipping Post", demonstrate that she is a skillful interpreter, able to add her own twists and perceptions. All In One Day has also been released on LP. The contrast in cover art is striking. The details in the photographs become apparent in the larger format. Lorna commented on the visual impact of light. Music is light and today Lorna lit up our morning to start to our day here in MetroWorcester.
